I do suggest eating at a cafe named Anima Sapori. If you leave Piazza Navona out the center west exit and walk just a block down the street you will see it on your left hand side. The food was amazing, very friendly people and very very cheap food!
If you choose to go inside the Colosseum, pay a little more for a tour and you by-pass the two lines to get in and you get a little explanation about how the Colosseum was used during the Roman Empire.
