There's something for everyone in San Francisco: city parks for weekend warriors - hikers, bikers, surfers, sailors, would-be marathoners, a foodie's paradise with hundreds of eateries to satisfy every craving and palate. Places to explore: museums, pubs, clubs, cafes, street festivals, Golden Gate Park, Palace of Fine Arts. Soak up the eclectic mix of intellectual, artistic, and ethnic experiences, or just play tourist - whatever you do, don't miss breathtaking views of the bay!

YowTrip at the SF NewTech meetup
Tonight I was in San Francisco for another YowTrip demo at the SF NewTech meetup. As always, there was a great line up tonight. So, when you have a chance go check out some of the other companies: Utterz (www.utterz.com), Triggit (www.triggit.com), Blogbard (www.blogbard.com), ClickTale (www.clicktale.com), Trippit (www.tripit.com) and YowTrip!

This was my fouth demo to those kinds of group and I have to say I'm much more comfortable talking in front of people now.

I met Arunan and Pragya there and after the meeting we went out to try to find a restaurant open in SF (somehow we managed to get lost for a while - with 2 GPS)... But we found this great Pakistani/Indian restaurant... Opened 24 hours. You gotta love that!

Jaime Jaime: Where was this restaurant? Was it near Fisherman's Wharf?

Felipe Coimbra Felipe: It's on O'Farrel across to the Hilton Hotel. It was pretty good.

SF Beta 2.2 January Mixer
Just got back from the monthly SF Beta event (www.sfbeta.com) at Minna Gallery in San Francisco. The event was great as always with 10 companies sharing 5 tables to showcase their product/application.

I demoed YowTrip there last month, and this month I saw some familiar faces. Well, unfortunately I wasn't able to see all the campanies and talk to everybody, but I did a few:

Hictu (www.hictu.com): Italian based company where you can post a short video about anything (think it as a video Twitter)

Seero (www.seero.com): Geo-base live video broadcast.

PlaceShout (www.placeshout.com): A combination of Twitter and Yelp.

MadeIt (www.madeit.com): A video evite. Create a party/event and send video invitations.

UserSuggest (www.usersuggest.com): Create a communite where your users can suggest something, new features, etc.

I didn't get a chance to talk to the other ones: Blogbard, Dipty, SanFranciscoMusicTech and NextDB.net

SF Beta Holiday Bash
I went to the bay area this week for a couple of events, one in San Francisco and another in Palo Alto.

San Francisco is a great city, I always enjoy going there (it's worth the 1 hour traffic to cross the Bay bridge - somehow I always get stuck there)

YowTrip had a demo table at the SF Beta Holiday party at Minna Gallery and I met a lot of interesting people and saw other products/services people were offering. It was a great opportunity to show YowTrip, get some feedback/suggestions and answer some questions about it.

Castro Street Fair
This weekend I decided to take a day off and go do something. I went to the Bay area on Sunday morning to meet up with Arunan for a short hike at Mt. Tamalpais, just north of San Francisco. The hike was pretty easy, 2 miles up until West Point Inn and then 2 miles back down. The weather was nice and we could even see the city from there.

After that we went to San Francisco to check out the Castro Street Fair (www.castrostreetfair.org) and meet some other friends. I didn't know what it was about and now I understand where San Francisco gets its reputation... It was ok. Like Mardi Gras... except more guys than girls...

Anyway, after that we headed to Union Square and had dinner at a nice Thai restaurant nearby. I wanted to go back to the Golden Gate Park to take some pictures of the city, it was a very nice clear sky day. Oh well, next time.

And of course, I was just saying how I hadn't been on huge traffic here in California yet and I got stuck getting out of the city, it took me about an hour to get on the Bay bridge, but after that it was an easy drive back to Sacramento.

Mike M Mike: How was the drive in? Usually I hit the most traffic driving into the city trying to get on the Bay Bridge.

Felipe Coimbra Felipe: Well, I didn't drive in through the Bay Bridge. I had gone hiking north of the city, so I drove in through the Golden Gate Bridge.
